One late night in Taipei, Taiwan on May 16, 1979, I was born. I lived
there for a few years and by the time I was 3, my parents and I moved
to California to create a better life. I quickly adjusted to the warm
weather and learned to speak English. Because of this, I assimilated
into the culture quickly enough to start school a year early. I was
a very shy child, a definite girly girl, with a few close friends.
Many of my best friends were the kids I met in Saturday Chinese School.
Contact sports was not on my list of favorite things to do. When I
entered high school, I wasn't really accepted by the established groups.
I was somewhat of an outcast. I didn't go out much and I concentrated
more on my schoolwork. Thus I chose to hang around the alternative
crowd. From these interactions I developed an affinity for groups
such as Guns 'N Roses and Skid Row. After my freshman year I was close
to signing a recording contract in Taiwan (I originally wanted to
be a singer), but because of technical difficulties my career never
got off the ground. After graduating high school I was accepted to
a University of California institution with aspirations of becoming
a plastic surgeon. I enjoyed college so much more than high school
and even met my first boyfriend! It was an interesting experience
but I soon moved onto my second boyfriend. It was my second boyfriend
who encouraged me to pursue an entertainment career. A year later
I decided to take a break from school and pursue a modeling career.
Well, that brings me to the present. I would love to speak about the
projects that I'm working on, but I can't say until it's released.
What I can say is that I will be appearing in a couple calendars for
the year 2000 and I'll be featured on various web-sites and will be
working on various miscellaneous projects. XOXO Kaila Yu
